I first heard it in 1962 on my Dad’s super high end hifi system which he had sent over from The States (we were living in Istanbul, Turkey at the time). That hifi system had the greatest sound ever - with a warm sounding tube amplifier and solid wood speakers - and emitting from them came those Brazilian rhythms, the strong melodic content of the tunes, the jazzy harmony played on a nylon string acoustic guitar and the super laid back, almost spoken, vocals; this was all fascinating stuff to a 10 year old kid. Many (many!) years later, I was privileged to play Bossa Nova tunes with my wife Stella (who had a fantastic voice - also for this specific style of music). Anyway, I decided to revisit this music so I recorded a bunch of Bossa Nova instrumentals with pro musicians and musical compadre Jeffrey Schuth on saxophones and flutes. Hope you like it and be spiritually transported to a Beach Cafe in Rio de Janeiro! Thank you for getting this album and enjoy! Best Regards and Peace!
